The APEX MR-6051 UV 6-Stage Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System combines the benefits of RO filtration with ultraviolet disinfection, making it the most effective water purification system in its class. The MR-6051 uses five stages of water filtration plus a final UV disinfection stage to create pure, microbiologically safe drinking water. The filtration process starts by passing water through a 5-micron polypropylene prefilter cartridge. The prefilter cartridge captures particulate matter, like rust, silt and even insect parts, which find their way into the water supply. The prefilter also prevents the filtration systems from clogging with this fine debris.

Next, the water flows through two 5-micron organic coconut shell activated carbon block cartridges. The porous carbon block cartridges remove taste and odors caused by chlorine and chloramine disinfection chemicals. Chlorinated water is a health hazard because the disinfection process can cause the formation of carcinogenic by-products called trihalomethanes (THMs).
